On Saturday, August 29, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., a recycle event will be hosted at Batesburg-Leesville High School, located at 600 Summerland Avenue, in Batesburg-Leesville. Open to Lexington County residents only, rain or shine, the list of acceptable recyclables include computers, printers, TVs, phones, microwaves and tires (limit of eight items per household).

Other acceptable items include clothes, furniture, paper (shredded on-site; limit of five boxes or bags per household) and much more. Participants should be prepared to show a valid driver’s license. In addition, materials generated by businesses are not accepted. Volunteers will be on-site to help unload recyclables from vehicles as residents drive through the parking lots and stop at drop-off stations.

For more information, including a complete list of acceptable items, contact Lexington County Recycling Coordinator Traude Sander at 803-785-3340, 803-223-1352 or [email protected]. Also visit Lex-co.sc.gov/solidwaste.
