Organic Harvest Month

The month of September is National Organic Harvest Month! Begun in 1992 by the Organic Trade Association, this observance represents a time to promote organic food and agriculture through regional and local events. The objective is to highlight organic agriculture and the growing organic products industry. September is also an ideal time for consumers and retailers to celebrate the bounty of the organic harvest. All across the nation and right here in the Palmetto State, events and celebrations of all shapes and sizes take place in parks, schools, stores, farmers' markets and restaurants. Past events have included organic country fairs, organic-themed barn dances, tastings and special displays at supermarkets and special pull-out sections in local newspapers.
