Honor Dr. King’s Legacy at the CMA
The Columbia Museum of Art (CMA) will observe Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday, January 19, with free admission throughout the day and special programming from noon to 5 p.m.
In honor of the holiday, the CMA will welcome visitors for a day of art, storytelling and community engagement. Programming begins at noon with line dancing on Boyd Plaza, followed by A Storytelling Celebration: Continuing Dr. King’s Dream at 1 p.m., presented in partnership with the Friends of African American Art & Culture.
Guests are encouraged to visit the newly refreshed and reopened CMA Collection on the second floor. From 3 to 4 p.m., CMA Curator Sadé Ayorinde and Dr. Nancy Tolson, CMA docent and commissioner, will be in the galleries sharing insights, engaging in conversation and highlighting works on view by Black and African American artists.
