Step Into the Magic of Mary Poppins

The Chapin Theatre Company, in Irmo, will present Mary Poppins at 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays July 16 and 23 and Fridays July 17 and 24. 

The musical follows the Banks family in Edwardian London, where Jane and Michael Banks have driven away their previous nanny. Their new nanny, the magical Mary Poppins, arrives by umbrella and takes the children on a series of adventures with her friend Bert. Along the way, Mary Poppins helps the children and their parents, George and Winifred Banks, recognize the importance of family, joy and finding wonder in everyday life. The story also features the return of George Banks’ harsh childhood nanny, Miss Andrew, whose efforts to take control are ultimately overcome as Mary Poppins helps the family reconnect.
