Dear Natural Awakenings family,
There is something quietly powerful about the transition into fall. The air becomes cooler, the days grow shorter and the vibrant green leaves begin their transformation before gently releasing from the branches that once held them.
Nature does not resist this change. The trees do not chase after the leaves that have fallen or mourn what the season once looked like. They simply let go—trusting that release is not the end, but a necessary part of renewal. There is a lesson in that for all of us.
As we reflect on the summer months and prepare for the fall harvest, this season invites us to turn inward. It asks us to consider what we have planted, what we have nurtured and what may no longer belong in the season ahead. Some things have produced exactly what we hoped they would. Others may not have unfolded according to our plans.
It is easy to keep looking back at what we thought should have happened—the opportunity that did not materialize, the relationship that changed, the goal that remains unfinished or the version of life we imagined we would be living by now. But we cannot fully receive what is ahead while continually reaching for what has already passed.
Like the falling leaves, there are expectations, disappointments, habits and even old versions of ourselves that we may need to release. Letting go does not mean that the experience was without value. It means we are choosing to carry the wisdom forward without carrying the weight.
Fall is also a season of harvest—a time to recognize and gather the fruit of what has been planted. Yet not every harvest is at once visible. Sometimes the greatest growth has taken place beneath the surface: in the boundaries we learned to establish, the courage we discovered, the peace we protected and the strength that carried us through days we once believed would break us.
There is beauty in stillness. There is purpose in the pause. And there is freedom in trusting that even when we cannot yet see what is coming, something meaningful may already be taking root.
As we enter this new season, may we stop looking back at what should have been and begin appreciating what is. May we release what has completed its purpose, honor the lessons of the season behind us, and remain open to the greater and more beautiful things waiting ahead.
This fall, let us make room for the harvest—and trust the promise held within every new season.
Wishing you peace, love and healing,
