Discover the Art of Clothing Repair
The Columbia Museum of Art will host a Clothing Mend Clinic from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 8, on Boyd Plaza, offering participants ages 15 and older hands-on instruction in garment repair with vintage clothing repairer David Hicks.
Inspired by featured exhibition Body Matters, this hands-on workshop invites participants to consider the powerful relationship between the clothes we wear on our bodies and the act of repairing them for continued use. Participants learn a variety of clothing repair methods for damage such as missing buttons, popped seams, rips and abrasion.
Participants should bring a garment to repair; all supplies and equipment are provided. The workshop will move indoors in case of rain.
Cost: $20 for nonmembers and $16 for members. Location: 1515 Main St., Columbia. For more information or to register, visit ColumbiaMuseum.org/events/art-class-clothing-mend-clinic-0.
